| Lupus is an auto-immune illness that can affect every part of the body:
from the tips of the toes to the hair on the head, from the outside to
the inside. In lupus, the body's own defenses attack the body itself.
Its effects can vary from annoying to severely debilitating to life
threatening. Lupus is difficult to diagnose and there is no cure. It is crucial that people with lupus (or people who suspect they might have lupus) see doctors that have extensive experience treating lupus. Many of the symptoms mimic other illnesses and there is no single, definitive test for lupus.
